Our Guiding Principles
Who We Are What We Do Our Issues Who We Work With Our Guiding Principles
For generations the church has found creative ways to disagree on non-essential issues. This has resulted in the marginalization of the church and the division of its power. With every church denomination claiming to be right, we have found ourselves on the outside looking in and our culture upside down. To prevent this temptation, The Christian Impact Alliance has adopted the following philosophy regarding church doctrine;
"In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity."
Psalm 133 "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing - Life forevermore." This can be accomplished without compromising the truth.
God is the giver of all life and the innocent unborn must be proteted to the fullest extent at all times. Gen. 2:7 "And the Lord formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being." Since God determines when life will be given and to whom, we believe that there are no mistakes in this process, and all life deserves a chance to live. It is beyond man's jurisdiction to determine the value of the unborn life.
The Bible is not merely a story about God, rather it is the word of God. 2Timothy 3:16,17 "All scripture is given by inspiraton of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." Without Godly wisdom, man will inevidibly lead himself down a path of destruction. God's word is a lamp illuminating the path that man should walk.
Marriage is only between a man and a woman according to God's plan. Our position on marriage is not based on what it cannot be, rather it is based on what the Bible says it is.Genesis 2:18 "And the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone: I will make him a helper comparable to him." God deemed the male capacity insuficient to sustain and cope with the task ahead, therefore, He created woman to compliment the ability of man. He did not duplicate man. Adam acknowledged this in Genesis 2:23 when he declared "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman. Because she was taken out of Man." God then instituted the covenant of marriage in Genesis 2:24 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."
The family unit is the cornerstone of our society and the basic platform for life.Genesis 2:24 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and they shall become one flesh." We see the progression of life, man and woman leave their male and female parents in order to bring life to a new generation. This is God's plan for the family; a father, mother and together raising children.
Government is ordained by God. Romans 13:1 "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God." Election results are no surprise to God. He has used governments both good and bad to reward and reprimand His people throughout history.
Romans 13:4 Speaking of the role of those in office; "For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, and avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil." Both good and bad government has God-given authority based on election. It seems to make sense for those who love God and live by His word to be involved in the government so they can implement His authority. This power is dangerous in the hands of those who do not fear God and live according to His word.
Jesus gave us two commandments: Matthew 19:19 "Honor your father and your mother, and , You shall love your neighbor as yourself." These two concepts speak volumes about how society should look in God's eyes. First, it sets the family in order as being comprised of a mother and a father, not two dads or moms. Secondly it takes away our right to hate other people. We are given a mandate to love others around us. Whether or not they believe the same way we believe or live the same lifestyle is not the issue. They deserve our love and respect as God's creation.
